The house was already well equipped technologically before the installation of the whole-house acoustic stove. Its overall concept is designed to be energy-plus. The overall annual balance is 85% renewable energy. As a secondary source of heat and DHW energy, a metal stove with heat exchanger was originally installed. Due to their instantaneous unwanted output and zero storage, the client decided to replace these. They were replaced by a Pallas all-mass fireplace with an integrated heat exchanger. Today it would be more likely to choose a fireplace from the new Ip2 or Fx range.

We decided to go with an acoustic stove for several reasons. The first and main reason was the frequent power outages, especially in winter. We live in the foothills and our original stove was unable to provide heat throughout the house for the entire day when we were not home (gas boiler).

The second was the gradual sucking of heat from the stove. With the original sheet metal stove design, the heat near the stove literally stripped us down to our underwear, but a few feet from the fireplace, the temperature was enough for sweatpants and thick socks.

The third reason that convinced us was the soapstone stove’s heating method and the minimal hassle of reheating. We would fire it up once a day for two or three hours and have heat for the whole day and night.
